Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), is a controversial blogger and social critic who has joined the ranks of people who support Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, to run for governor of Lagos State in 2027.

Reports that Seyi is pursuing the goal of succeeding Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have recently been circulating in the rumour mill.

A number of organisations have been outspoken in their support and endorsement of the younger Tinubu for governor, despite the fact that neither the First Son nor his father had discussed the rumoured ambition in public.

In contrast, VDM stated in a video posted to his Instagram page on Friday, January 17, 2025, that if Seyi chooses to throw himself in the political fray in 2027, he will support him to the hilt.

The blogger, who stated that he was willing to abandon his nonpartisan position in favour of Seyi, claimed that his arrival would signal a change in Nigerian politics by encouraging young people to run for government.

The 39-year-old president’s son may become Lagos’ youngest governor when he turns 42 in 2027.

“If Seyi Tinubu decides to run for governorship…I’m going to campaign for him. I don’t do politics but I’ll do politics because of Seyi Tinubu,” VeryDarkMan said.

“Based on my calculation, Seyi Tinubu is a bridge to get something that I want, something that I believe will make Nigeria work.”

VDM added that Seyi has taken up his father’s political style, which involves putting individuals in positions of influence early enough to carry out his wishes.

“I’ve been studying Seyi Tinubu’s pattern; he seems to have his father’s political mentality,” he noted.

The blogger claims that Seyi already has supporters in high places, and those supporters are probably not elderly people because they would be challenging for him to control.

With Seyi in charge in Lagos, the divisive critic predicted that he would start helping his supporters become governors and other high-ranking political officials in other states.

According to VDM, young people might rebel against Seyi, which would benefit the nation.

“The problem is these older men know that if Seyi Tinubu becomes governor, they’ll be kicked out of power. They’ve seen the traits of his father in him, so it’ll be a problem.”

“So, if he decides, which I believe won’t work, especially when his father is in office, it might be hard for him to become governor,” he added.
