The Coalition of United Political Parties, or CUPP, has urged Nigerians to vote against the All Progressives Congress, or APC, in the 2027 election because the government has not addressed the threat of insecurity.
The CUPP expressed particular disapproval of the Federal Government’s alleged inability to solve the country’s security issues, which it claimed had caused residents and both domestic and foreign investors to grow concerned.
According to CUPP spokesperson Mark Adebayo, the condemnation comes after the Islamic State West Africa Province, or ISWAP, massacred 40 farmers in Borno State on January 12.
The episode, according to Adebayo, was a devastating illustration of the government’s failure to protect its people.
The CUPP brought attention to the growing insecurity in Nigeria’s several states, where terrorist attacks and kidnappings have claimed thousands of lives and displaced millions more.
Despite large spending in counterterrorism measures, the alliance charged that the ruling APC was failing to uphold its responsibility to protect the country’s security.
It emphasised the necessity for a government that can successfully fight insecurity and demanded a drastic revision of Nigeria’s security framework.
The group warned of severe repercussions if the current government continued to rule after 2027 and asked Nigerians to vote against the APC in the 2027 elections.
The CUPP expressed sympathy to the victims’ families and demanded swift action to bring peace and stability back to the nation.
