In 2025, residents of Nasarawa State’s Toto Local Government Area have urged President Bola Tinubu to give the region’s security top priority.

Separate interviews with reporters in Toto on Friday revealed that some of the locals made the call.

Toto resident Mr. Yahaya Idris stated that more security was necessary to ensure the safe and unhindered flow of people and products around the nation.

“I am calling for better security because it is very essential to peacebuilding and development.

“With adequate security, more people will feel safe to travel around, and more goods and services will reach local and distant communities across the country.

“This will reduce the stress of people leaving their communities to other places just to access certain goods and services,” he said.

Another resident, Mallam Ahmed Mustapha, thanked God for the opportunity to greet the New Year and reiterated the necessity for the President to put security first in the coming year.

Adequate security, according to Mustapha, will improve foreign input and tourism by drawing tourists from abroad.

“There are so many wonderful places in Nigeria that can earn Nigeria huge revenue through tourism, but we must ensure we have adequate security in place so as to attract foreign tourists into the country.

“When you cannot guarantee your own security, you can’t welcome a visitor to your domain but when you create a peaceful environment and put in place adequate security, visitors will want to come,” he said.

Speaking as well, Toto lawmaker Alhaji Mohammed Usman claimed that more security will motivate more people to go back to farming, hence reducing food shortages.

Usman also urged the President to investigate fuel costs in order to lower them and lessen the suffering endured by certain Nigerians.

“I hope the President will tackle these issues because our prayer is for 2025 to be better than 2024,” he said.
