Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, has expressed shock and worry about the second assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump that has been reported.

Netanyahu expressed pleasure that the attempt had failed on his verified Twitter account, but he also emphasised the necessity for more stringent preventive measures.

“Sara and I were shocked by the second assassination attempt against President Trump and were relieved to hear that it too failed. But we should not rely on luck,” the Israeli leader wrote. He further extended his best wishes to Trump and his wife, Melania, hoping that future attacks could be thwarted before they happen.

The tight relationship between the Israeli leader and Trump is highlighted by Netanyahu’s comments. During his presidency, Trump had a major influence on important foreign policy choices that affected Israel, such as the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Netanyahu has been a vocal admirer of Trump for a long time, and this statement shows his ongoing support for the former US president.

The attempted assassinations raise doubt on the safety and security of prominent politicians such as Trump, especially when it comes to their candidacy for president of the United States. Netanyahu’s remarks highlight the need for more robust security measures to be put in place in order to stop similar risky occurrences in the future.
