Israel vs Iran: Tinubu’s spokesman release statement to US, UK

The United States of America and the United Kingdom, according to President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, owe the world peace in the Middle East.

The duo, according to Onanuga, should make sure that Israel doesn’t respond disproportionately to Iranian missiles and drones.

A post he made on Sunday on his X handle contains his statement.

He stated that the viewpoint is his own and does not represent the Presidency he serves in.

In retaliation for the Israeli attack on its consulate in Syria, ZINGTIE reported that Israel experienced an unprecedented air attack from Iran on Saturday.

Early on Sunday, Israelis could breathe a sigh of relief after an unprecedented air attack by Iranian drones and missiles was mostly thwarted by the Jewish state’s formidable air defenses, which were aided by the US military and other allies.

Onanuga, however, warns that things could get out of hand, urging the US and the UK to mediate.

He states that caution is necessary on all fronts and that the world does not want another Middle East war while the situation in Gaza remains unresolved.

He said: “United States of America and the UK owe the world the responsibility for peace in the Middle East by ensuring that Israeli response to Iranian drones and missiles is not disproportionate. Israel first drew blood by attacking the Iranian embassy in Damascus, killing some Iranian military officials. Iran promised some retaliation against Israel which it did Saturday by raining drones and missiles in Israeli direction. Many of them were intercepted. Times of Israel has reported one injury.

“Iran said it has concluded its retaliation to Israel’s first attack. But Israel is planning a massive response. With Jordan, Syria and other countries closing their airspace, Iranian Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani threatened a firm response to any country that “opens its airspace or territory for attacks on Iran by Israel”. This conflict can degenerate.

“The UK, USA should mediate. There is need for caution all round. With Gaza yet unresolved, the world does not want another war in the Middle East.”
