Popular Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, better known as Rudeboy, has voiced serious concern over the growing trend of reckless social media usage among young Nigerians.
The Reason With Me crooner cautioned that individuals who misuse social platforms in pursuit of clout and online attention are putting themselves at serious risk.
He warned that what some view as harmless fun could ultimately lead to damaging consequences.
In a post shared via his Instagram Story, the singer stated: “Social media is going to destroy a lot of people… You might think it’s just cruise, clout, or to trend… Your eye go clear.”
Despite the widespread use of social media across Nigeria, its regulation remains largely nonexistent, with no dedicated body in charge of monitoring digital content.
Concerns over issues such as online harassment, misinformation, hate speech, and reputational damage have led to renewed calls in some circles for stricter oversight.
A bill aimed at regulating social media activity in Nigeria was previously introduced in the National Assembly but faced significant public opposition, especially on social media itself, which slowed its progress through the legislative process.
