Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former Nigerian president and governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, has formally briefed President Bola Tinubu about her ambition to run for governor.

Obasanjo also shared her plans for the state during a private meeting held at President Tinubu’s Lagos residence.

Sources familiar with the meeting revealed that the discussion focused on Obasanjo’s intention to contest for the governorship of Ogun State.

She presented her vision for the state, emphasizing key priorities in governance, development, and public service if elected.

Obasanjo also reflected on her longstanding relationship with President Tinubu, describing it as one built on years of political engagement and mutual respect.

She noted that this relationship has significantly influenced her political journey and her approach to leadership.

She said, “On Monday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State.”

During the meeting, the former commissioner reiterated her loyalty to the ruling party and pledged to actively mobilize support for President Tinubu in the lead-up to the next general election.

Observers view the meeting as part of ongoing political consultations and alignments ahead of future electoral contests in Ogun State and at the national level.
