Japa: British Council in Nigeria announces fees increase for IELTS

The cost of taking the English Language Testing System, or IELTS, exam for the second time in five months has increased, according to the British Council in Nigeria.

The council revealed this in a recent statement posted on its official website.

According to the statement, the recently raised prices of N139,000 for the academic and general training computer modules will go into effect on February 1, 2024.

The council put this change down to the growing expense of exams.

“We would like to inform you that our IELTS fees have been reviewed. The new price list of the IELTS range of tests offered by the British Council will be effective for registrations on or after February 1, 2024,” it stated.

Remember that the September 2023 adjustment, which brought the fee from a range of N80,000 to N90,000 to the current N107,500, occurred just five months before the most recent increase.
