The former US President, Joe Biden, expressed his happiness over the release of Sagui Dekel-Chen and two other Israeli hostages.
On Saturday, Hamas released Sagui Dekel-Chen, an Israeli-American, along with Yair Horn and Alexander Trupanov after they had been held captive for at least 498 days.
In response to the news, the former US President shared a post on his official X handle, stating, “Jill and I are relieved, alongside millions of others around the world, that Sagui Dekel-Chen is finally reunited with his family after 498 painful days”.
Biden said he is “proud that the deal we negotiated” paved the way for the release of the hostages.
He also shared that his thoughts and prayers were with the remaining hostages in Gaza, expressing hope that “all will be reunited in the weeks ahead”.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office, Israel is also expected to release 369 Palestinian prisoners in the coming days.
