The All Progressives Congress, APC, is reportedly making serious plans to outmaneuver the alliance led by the African Democratic Congress in 2027, according to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule.

He insisted that defections were a component of the APC’s counterstrategies to the ADC’s and announced that another governor would soon defect to the APC.

When asked if the APC has been able to discuss what this means for 2027 within its ranks and if it is ready to take on the alliance, the governor told Channels Television:

“Yes, we have discussed. And it is not something, actually, that I will disclose here. You know, as they are planning, we are planning. You know, we are in politics. We are in this indeed. We are not going to just sit down watching them planning. You know, so as they plan, we are planning, and at the end of the day, you know, the better plans will take over.

“So now, as it is, we are planning. We keep getting more and more governors from PDP joining us. Very soon you will hear another governor joining us.

“You hear every day senators that are decamping and coming back to APC every day. These are all part of the plans. They are not happening just by magic.”

In response to ADC’s assertion that the APC government is conducting a witch hunt, which is why some governors or influential figures are unable to visit ADC at this time, the governor went on to say, “I don’t underrate anybody. And from my background, from my training, from my family background, I don’t insult anybody, not even the opposition. I don’t insult them. I don’t underestimate them. I don’t make negative statements about any one of them. You know, that is me based on my own upbringing, my own background, my own profession, my own career, and the rest of that.

“But the bottom line is that they must find something else to say.”

Mr. Sule reaffirmed that many defections occurred during Goodluck Jonathan’s reign before the 2015 election, but Jonathan lost to Buhari, saying, “Jonathan’s era is completely different from this era. We didn’t see what we are seeing during Jonathan that we are seeing today.

“We didn’t go through the challenges that we are having during the time that we are going today with the caliber of people that came together to form the alliance of the APC, you know, ANPP, ACM, CPC, as well as all these other parties, the new PDP, and the rest of that.

“It’s not the kind of thing that you are seeing in this new opposition.”
