JUST IN: Policewoman beaten to death in front of station by angry travellers

A group of more than thirty passengers who were travelling to Akwa Ibom for a wedding ceremony beat Mrs Christiana Erekere, a policewoman in Rivers state, to death.

The terrible incident happened in front of the police station, where the victim died after being beaten to death by a large mob.

The 80-year-old mother reportedly recorded the event, disturbing the travellers, who demanded that she hand them her phone. Mrs. Erekere, a widow, is survived by four children.

When she refused, the young person threw stones at her and struck her with things until she passed out.

When the crowd began to charge at the on-duty police officers, other cops left the scene, leaving the deceased alone, defenceless, and defenceless.

Sixteen travellers detained at a different checkpoint en route to the wedding in Akwa Ibom have been taken into custody by the police.

The Rivers Police Command said that investigations have started to determine what exactly happened that resulted in an officer’s death in front of a police station in a statement made on Monday by its spokeswoman, Grace Iringe-Koko.

Iringe-Koko reported that at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, Mrs. Erekere was brutally murdered.

Iringe-Koko said: “According to preliminary investigations, the incident occurred when a group of individuals travelling in a Lexus salon car was stopped for routine checks at the checkpoint in front of the Taabaa Police Station”

“Unfortunately, they refused, alleging that Inspector Erekere had recorded a video of their disruptive behaviour using her mobile phone.”

Then, a mob of men surrounded her and began using everything in the area as a weapon against the deceased.

After being taken to Nnadum Hospital in Bori, medical professionals pronounced Mrs. Erekere dead.
