Kano: Husband of woman caught with Jigawa commissioner files adultery suit at Sharia Court

A complaint has been filed at Kano Upper Shari’a Court 1, Kofar Kudu, by the husband of Tasleem Baba Nabegu, the woman who was allegedly seen with Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties Auwalu Sankara.

A hearing on the accusation of adultery against Tasleem Baba Nabegu and Auwal Danladi Sankara, the suspended Jigawa State Commissioner, is set to begin on Tuesday, according to the court, which is presided over by Ustaz Ibrahim Sarki Yola.

Alhaji Nasiru Buba, the complainant, filed a direct complaint with the court, claiming that he had reason to believe that Sankara and his wife, Tasleem, the mother of his two children, had been having extramarital affairs, which is prohibited by Islamic law.

ZINGTIE remembers that last Thursday, the Kano State Hisbah Board declared that Auwal Sankara and the married woman had been arrested in an uncompleted building belonging to him at Lamido Crescent in Nassarawa GRA within the Kano metropolis.

As a result, Jigawa major Governor Umar Namadi suspended the troubled commissioner and appointed a five-person team to look into the situation, which has turned into a major embarrassment.

On Monday, however, the court registrar notified the parties that the case would now take place on Tuesday.

Barrister Sa’idu Muhammad Tudu Wada, the complainant’s attorney, spoke to media on behalf of Barrister Haruna Magashi and said:

“Our client is urging the court to investigate the relationship between his wife and the defendant over the alleged commission of crime for criminal prosecution or whatsoever.”

Barrister Shehu Sadam Suleiman, Danladi Sankara’s attorney, stated that his client was taken aback upon learning via electronic and social media that he had been arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board on suspicion of having an extramarital affair with Tasleem Baba Nabegu, the wife of the complainant in the case, Nasiru Buba.

“It is important for journalists and the public to note that this is a matter of ‘direct criminal complaint’ against our client, not a matter instituted by Kano State Hisbah Board as per the records of the court and what we know. This is a direct criminal complaint against our client and the complainant’s wife,” said Suleiman.

According to the lawyer, his client is fully innocent and is eager to defend his name in court.
