The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), owned by the Kogi State Government, has announced the deployment of 117 pioneer graduates for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exercise. This milestone marks a significant achievement for the young institution, as its first-ever graduates commence their national service.

According to Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdulrahman Salawu, “We celebrate the deployment of 117 pioneer graduates to various National Youth Service Corps camps across the country. This historic milestone marks a significant achievement for the young institution, as its first-ever graduates commence their national service, exemplifying the university’s dedication to producing globally competent graduates ready to serve the nation.”

The institution has grown significantly in the last four years, introducing new courses such as medicine and law. Salawu noted, “CUSTECH has made remarkable strides in expanding its academic offerings. In four years, the academic programs have increased from 11 to 56 programs, an unprecedented development in the Nigerian university system.” These courses span various fields, including medical sciences, agricultural sciences, engineering, computing, law, and other cutting-edge areas.

The university’s growth demonstrates its commitment to addressing Nigeria’s economic needs and preparing students for leadership roles. As Salawu stated, “The monumental growth is a demonstration of the university’s commitment to addressing the critical needs of Nigeria’s economy and preparing students for leadership roles in these sectors.”

“Availability of adequate facilities coupled with a conducive learning environment has greatly enhanced learning, thereby enabling 14 of the graduates to obtain first degrees.

“The management of CUSTECH urged the pioneer graduate to be exemplary ambassadors of the university and make meaningful contributions during their service year. It expressed confidence that these graduates would uphold the university’s values and showcase the quality education they have received, “the VC added.

The institution has also expressed gratitude to Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo and immediate past Governor Yahaya Bello for their support. Furthermore, the management urged the pioneer graduates to be exemplary ambassadors of the university and make meaningful contributions during their service year. Salawu added, “It expressed confidence that these graduates would uphold the university’s values and showcase the quality education they have received.
