The Warri-South Local Government Area of Delta State has launched its “Festival of Project Commissioning” with the unveiling of the newly rebuilt Igbudu Market. The commissioning ceremony was led by Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, wife of the Delta State governor, who also oversaw the distribution of N40 million in financial support to traders. This brings the total amount distributed to ₦100 million across ten markets within the local government area.

The market’s reconstruction was a campaign promise made by Warri South Local Government Chairman, Agbateyiniro Isaac, to traders affected by a fire incident last year. The chairman had vowed to rebuild the damaged section at no cost to the traders, and this promise has now been fulfilled.

During the unveiling, Mrs Oborevwori presented cheques of N10 million each to four newly selected cooperative societies and market groups, including:

– Ubeji Market Multipurpose Cooperative Society

– Christian Association of Nigeria Multipurpose Cooperative Society

– Warri South Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society

– Spare Parts Market Multipurpose Cooperative Society

The highlight of the event was the commissioning of a newly completed home for Mrs Grace Ogagbe, the mother of the famous quintuplets. She was also presented with shop keys, made possible through the local government council.

This event marks a significant milestone in the council’s efforts to promote grassroots development, empower local businesses, and deliver on its promises to the people.
