With the local government poll just around the corner, the Katsina Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC) has begun distributing sensitive election materials to all 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.

These materials have been customized to meet the unique needs of each LGA, setting them apart from those used in previous elections.

According to Lawal Faskari, Chairman of the Commission, the distribution exercise kicked off at the agency’s premises and will prioritize the farthest LGAs.

Faskari assured the gathering that the commission, in collaboration with security agencies, has made adequate arrangements to ensure the safe transportation of the materials to their designated destinations.

To guarantee a smooth voting process, Faskari also confirmed that necessary arrangements have been put in place.

The KTSIEC Chairman further assured residents of the state that sensitive election materials will arrive promptly at all polling centers.

Faskari announced that dedicated mobile phone lines will be made available to the public for reporting genuine complaints to the commission on election day ¹.

He expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation received from stakeholders, particularly security agencies and political parties, and encouraged them to continue their efforts.

“Already the Commission had recruited and trained over twenty thousand (20,000) ad-hoc staff who will undertake the exercise in all the designated polling units across the state, as non-sensitive election materials were distributed last week.

“The Commission had this time planned to make the distribution of the sensitive election materials early in order to enable the timely distributions to all the designated centres across the 34 Local Government Areas, 361 political wards, and 6652 polling units in the State,” Faskari noted.

The distribution ceremony was attended by a diverse range of stakeholders, comprising commission members, security agency representatives, political party representatives, IPAC members, and other key stakeholders.
