In Ugbokodo, Okpe Community, in the Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, a man only known as Paul fatally stabbed his younger brother, according to confirmation from the Delta State Police Command, which is headed by CP Olufemi Abaniwonda.
In a text message to our correspondent in Warri, Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe verified the incident.
His message read, “Confirmed,” stating that the suspect has been arrested.
According to ZINGTIE, the suspect and his son allegedly killed his younger brother Saturday by stabbing him to death at the Ugbokodo waterside on Thursday night after a fight over two thousand naira.
When it was discovered that the suspect’s wife’s two thousand naira had vanished, she suspected the dead, who denied stealing the money earlier in the day.
She insisted that he was culpable and seized his shirt during a heated dispute.
Before neighbors stepped in and split them up, the deceased allegedly slapped his older brother’s wife during the incident.
Then, in a fit of rage, the woman contacted her husband, Papa Jeffery, who hurried to the scene. He allegedly asked one of his sons to go with him, without inquiring as to what had happened between his wife and his younger brother.
They followed Saturday to the water’s edge, where they repeatedly stabbed and battered him until he passed away.
After the event, irate young people in the Ugbokodo neighborhood banded together and burned the suspect’s home and his wife’s store.
It took the prompt action of police officers and soldiers to stabilize the situation.
