In the Ndieguzu Agalegu Omege community in the Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, numerous persons have been killed and at least 10 houses have been completely destroyed by fire.

ZINGTIE learnt that the community was attacked by people who were thought to be thugs, resulting in numerous injuries.

According to reports, a conflict broke out between the residents of Omege Agalagu and Ukwuinyima.

Although the exact cause of the conflicts is still unknown, a community source claimed that the conflict stemmed from a fight that broke out in November 2024 when they were burying a woman who had supposedly been raped and died.

“More than 10 houses and property worth millions of naira have been burnt to ashes. The government needs to do something,” the source said.

DSP Joshua Ukandu, a police public relations officer, verified the event to ZINGTIE on Sunday after being contacted.

According to the spokeswoman, the police have started an investigation and are keeping the area under control.

Jude Chikadibia Okpor, Ebonyi State’s Commissioner for Information, stated that the Command is aware of the occurrence and is making every effort to contain the situation.

He said: “It was a misunderstanding between two youths from the villages you mentioned that degenerated into a free-for-all fight and resulted in the unfortunate incident.

“However, it has been brought under control.”
