Many rendered homeless as flood wreaks havoc in Russia

In western Siberia, the Volga area, and the Central Federal District of Russia, about 10,400 residential houses have been flooded.

This was revealed on Monday by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

According to the ministry, over 6,100 people have been evacuated from the badly damaged Orenburg Region, and 33 temporary housing sites have been set up to house 33,000 people.

According to the Orenburg Regional Government, the flood is likely to peak on April 10, and the situation along the Ural River is anticipated to return to normal after April 25.

More than 18,000 people were in the area that could flood, according to the TASS news agency, which cited data from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

According to data released by the agency between April 7 and 11, Siberia, the Volga region, and the Central Federal District have all seen steady increases in daily average temperatures, snowmelt, and river thawing.

Flood dangers to low-lying communities and transportation infrastructure are anticipated to increase.
