Meta has pledged over $100,000 to support Richland Parish community initiatives, focusing on education, veterans’ services, and ageing support. The tech company’s donations include $50,000 for Richland Parish schools’ technology and educational programmes, $42,000 for the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery to honour the sacrifices of local heroes, and $20,000 for the Regional Voluntary Council on Ageing to enhance services for seniors.
“A big focus when we build a data centre is to be the best neighbours we can,” said Meta Regional Manager Henry Thornton. “One way we do that is by investing in the communities where we operate.” Thornton added that Meta makes annual contributions to organisations near its data centres and plans to continue this tradition as its presence in Richland Parish grows.
The data centre is expected to create between 300 and 500 jobs, excluding ongoing construction work, bringing new economic opportunities to the area. “We’re excited to make a positive impact,” Thornton said. “More jobs mean more opportunity.” The Richland Parish site is one of the largest data centers Meta has ever built, demonstrating the company’s significant investment in the region
