MTN, FCTA partners to bring digital training to public schools

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has partnered with MTN Nigeria to empower students in public secondary schools with digital learning tools. As part of this initiative, MTN donated 600 tablet computers to 12 secondary schools in the territory.

FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, commended MTN for their commitment to corporate social responsibility, describing the initiative as a “timely and impactful investment” in the future of Nigerian students. “The provision of these tablets was more than technology distribution but a direct investment in the potential of children, digital inclusion, and national development,” she said.

The Minister emphasized that the donation aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which prioritizes access to quality education and digital empowerment nationwide. “The MTN’s support aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda…which prioritises access to quality education and digital empowerment nationwide,” she added.

Mandate Secretary, FCT Education Secretariat, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, also praised MTN for bridging the digital divide, saying, “This initiative will undoubtedly propel our schools to compete favourably with their global counterparts.”

MTN’s Chairman, Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, highlighted the company’s commitment to education and digital inclusion, stating, “MTN believes that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life.” He added that MTN Nigeria has procured 4,600 digital learning tablets for distribution to public secondary schools across the country.
