MTN Nigeria, through its MoMo Payment Service Bank, has taken its 21 Days of Yellow Care campaign to Ikotun Market in Lagos, empowering traders with financial literacy and digital payment solutions. The initiative aims to equip market men and women with knowledge on savings, budgeting, and financial planning, while encouraging them to adopt digital payment solutions.

“This is not just a campaign, it’s about equipping our market people with tools to manage their money better,” said OlaOluwa Okeshola, Regional Sales Manager for MoMo PSB Lagos. “We are helping them understand the importance of saving, planning and using digital channels to grow their businesses.”

The campaign offers incentives, including free solar-powered fans to selected traders who carry out at least five MoMo transactions daily for a week. “It’s not about volume but consistency,” Okeshola added.

Traders like Kolawole Sekina Anike and Samuel Ajibade have benefited from the initiative, gaining a better understanding of budgeting and financial planning. “I never knew MoMo worked like other online banks,” Anike said. “Now I understand budgeting better and I’m opening a MoMo account today.”

Ajibade commended the initiative, saying, “This kind of programme makes a big difference. Many of us don’t know how to separate our business money from daily spending.”

MoMo officials have acknowledged previous shortcomings and assured traders that steps have been taken to address gaps, including network issues. “We’ve collected their details and we’re committed to fulfilling all promises made,” said Akinwunmi Boluwaji Amos, MoMo Retail Developer.

The campaign demonstrates MTN’s commitment to sustainable economic empowerment and building long-term trust with traders
