Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has declared that he intends to transfer leadership to someone from the Anambra Central Senatorial District once his time in office concludes.
He emphasized that rotating the governorship position among the state’s three senatorial zones has become a well-established tradition.
Soludo made this known during a political rally aimed at drumming up support for his second-term ambition and celebrating the return of former federal lawmaker Ifeanyi Ibezi to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), held in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area.
He explained that the zoning system commenced with Anambra North, proceeded to Anambra South his own senatorial district and is expected to shift to Anambra Central after he completes his term.
As he officially welcomed Ibezi back into APGA, Soludo described the party as being deeply rooted in the state’s political culture.
The ex-Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor pointed out that his campaign for re-election has evolved into a movement driven by the grassroots, with communities spontaneously organizing support rallies.
“Anambra is APGA, and APGA is synonymous with Anambra. We are going round the state welcoming major people back into the fold. APGA has never been more united and stronger than it is today,” he added.
He voiced strong optimism about the party’s chances of winning across all 5,720 polling units and 326 political wards in the state. He also encouraged residents of Idemili North an area known for high voter numbers but historically low turnout to change that pattern during the November 8 election.
