Singer and rapper Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has cautioned young people against excessive involvement in sports betting.
The artist behind the hit track ‘Tesumole’ stressed that gambling should not be considered a profession.
On his social media platform X, he urged Nigerian youths to stop squandering their money on football betting, stating, “Football bet no be work bro. Please stop before they finish you.”
Naira Marley’s warning comes as concerns grow over the negative effects of sports betting on young Nigerians.
According to a report from Business Insider Africa, Nigeria was ranked as the leading country for sports betting in Africa in early 2025.
The report revealed that there are 168.7 million active sports bettors in Nigeria, with 70 percent of the population under 30 years old involved in the activity.
