Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaudna State, has put his support behind Northern Star leader Naja’atu Muhammad in the wake of charges against Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA).

According to ZINGTIE, Mohammed said in a viral Tiktok video that Ribadu, as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, disgraced President Bola Tinubu and other key figures in the government.

He said that Ribadu, as chairman of the anti-graft agency, promised in 2007 to thwart then-governors Tinubu, George Akume of Benue State, and Orji Kalu of Abia State.

However, in a letter dated Tuesday, the NSA refuted the accusation and sought a public apology and retraction from Muhammad.

The letter, delivered to Muhammad by the NSA’s lawyer, Ahmed Raji, SAN, stated that Ribadu “has never maintained such a viewpoint” against any of the three lawmakers.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria went on to say that “the damage occasioned to our client by your deliberate but ill-advised action is unquantifiable” and urged Muhammad “to provide evidence of your allegations.”

El-Rufai, in a post on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, provided a screenshot of an old newspaper that contained Mohammed’s claim.

According to El-rufai, “Nuhu must have serious amnesia” and that “Najaatu’s statement is accurate”.

The former governor stated that the “record of proceedings in the Senate will confirm that Nuhu made those statements sometime in 2006.”

“The subsequent Daily Trust report below of February 2007, reconfirms the essence of the statements.

“The conclusions of the Federal Executive Council in 2006, which can be subpoenaed from the Cabinet Secretariat of the SGF’s office contain the allegations.

“In that Special FEC meeting in which I was a member, Nuhu’s EFCC made similar presentations accusing many sitting officials, sometime in 2006.

“These Council Conclusions will further remove all doubts.

“This is for the record and to remind the morally-flexible that at some point in our national life, silence is no longer golden”.
