Ned Nwoko, the senator for Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, said on Sunday that he had decided to align with the country’s good governance by defecting from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) rather than for political or personal gain.

The legislator stated that his defection was not motivated by electoral aspirations in a statement released by his media consultant, Michael Ogah.

The statement stated Nwoko spoke in Agbor while addressing stakeholders and party supporters.

“I did not leave the PDP because of elections. My decision was made after deep reflection on the party’s internal challenges and my commitment to ensuring that my people receive the best possible representation,” he stated.

The senator underlined that his priorities are still providing excellent representation and endorsing laws that advance Delta State.

Recall that Senator Nwoko’s switch to the APC has sparked political discussions throughout Delta North, especially in Agbor, with pundits speculating on the possible ramifications of his decision in the run-up to the next elections.

The legislator did, however, restate that his choice was made for the good of his constituents rather than for his own advantage.

According to the statement, stakeholders are keeping a careful eye on how Senator Nwoko’s decision may affect the future of Delta State as the political landscape changes.
