Nigerian Govt finalises evacuation of citizens in Israel, Iran

The Federal Government has once again affirmed its dedication to the urgent evacuation of Nigerians trapped in Israel and Iran amid rising tensions between the two nations.

Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, made this known in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa.

This announcement follows ongoing appeals from the ministry calling for an end to hostilities in the conflict, which has now lasted seven days, as part of efforts to foster peace between the countries.

Tuggar explained that in light of the escalating crisis, the government is in the final stages of organizing the emergency evacuation process for Nigerian nationals stranded in both Israel and Iran.

He advised all affected Nigerians to comply with security guidelines and to register with the nearest Nigerian diplomatic mission to receive further directions.

The minister praised the dedication of Nigeria’s diplomatic teams in Tel Aviv and Tehran for their proactive engagement with Nigerians during this challenging time.

“The government remains committed to the safety and welfare of all its citizens, both at home and abroad,” Tuggar said.

He added that the government is collaborating closely with international partners and local authorities to ensure well-coordinated, safe, and timely evacuation efforts.

Additionally, the government reiterated its appeal for the immediate halt of fighting, urging all involved parties to pursue dialogue, uphold international humanitarian laws, and prioritize civilian protection.

Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s firm backing for peaceful conflict resolution and underscored the country’s enduring commitment to peace and stability both regionally and globally.
