On Tuesday, members of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) staged a demonstration at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Finance in Abuja, protesting over unpaid allowances and other outstanding benefits.

The demonstrators, who refrained from giving statements to journalists, held placards that expressed frustration over delays in the payment of financial entitlements owed to ministry employees.

A staff member of the ministry, speaking anonymously, confirmed that the protest had caused a disruption in normal activities.

“You can see that our office has been blocked. We don’t even know the full reason yet,” the staff member said.

As of the time the report was compiled, the Ministry of Finance had yet to release an official comment addressing the protest or clarifying the specific issues raised by the workers.
