Nigerians will never stop suffering and here is why – Obasanjo

Former Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo claimed that the country’s current economic situation is the result of poor resource management and low productivity among its citizens.

He also supported the shift of power and resources from the federal government to state and local governments to ensure effective resource management and reduce competition at the center.

At the public book launch of Dr. Umar Ardo’s “Court and Politics,” Obasanjo made an appearance as a guest of honor, escorted by former Niger State governor Babangida Aliyu. The book included a first-hand account of the author’s interactions with the court system and politics.

Ardo was a candidate for governor in the most recent Adamawa State election, representing the Social Democratic Party (SDP). His attempt to reverse the victory of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has just failed.

During the book launch, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, a member of the Northern Elders Forum, backed attempts by some politicians to return Nigeria to the parliamentary system of government.

In a report, he stated: “Nigeria’s oil production is about 1.7 million barrels per day, while almost the same quantity is stolen every day, adding that other countries that produce about 5 million barrels could account for them.”
