‘No NIN, no mobilisation’ — NYSC tells prospective corps members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that beginning with the mobilisation exercise in 2024, all qualified potential corps members are expected to register for mobilisation using their National Identification Numbers (NIN).

This was discussed at the Wednesday meeting in Abuja between the administration of the National Identification Administration Commission (NIMC), headed by Director General Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and the management of the NYSC, led by Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed.

According to Brig Gen. Ahmed, the online NYSC registration procedure will be strengthened by the partnership with NIMC on corps mobilisation.

He continued by saying that the 2014 introduction of the NYSC Integrated System has dramatically aided the scheme’s mobilisation process.

The NIMC Director General, Coker-Odusote, pledged in her statements made during the visit that the commission was prepared to work with both agencies.

She praised NYSC’s mobilisation procedures and its efforts throughout its more than 50 years of existence to shape corps members for leadership roles.

According to the head of NIMC, the synergy will solve several problems and streamline the mobilisation procedure as a whole.

She also mentioned the partnerships NIMC has with many government organisations.
