Citing notable advancements in infrastructure, security, and economic transformation, the Northern States Governors Forum has reiterated its support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

At the start of a two-day interactive session hosted by the Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna, Inuwa Yahaya, the governor of Gombe State and the chairman of the Forum, reiterated the pledge.

The “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizen Engagement for National Unity” workshop, according to Inuwa, is an essential step in enhancing democratic accountability.

According to him, the meeting was an opportunity to objectively assess the Federal Government’s performance, especially in light of the pledges made during the 2023 campaign, rather than being about meaningless rhetoric.

“When candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu stood before us, he made specific commitments to Northern Nigeria. The North believed in his vision and delivered over 60% of the votes that brought him to power,” he noted.

He claims that the benefits of that political partnership are already being felt in the area. He mentioned a number of significant ongoing projects, such as the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway, the Kano-Katsina-Maradi rail line, the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline, the Kaduna Refinery’s renovation, and ongoing oil drilling at the Kolmani Oil Fields.

Additionally, the governor of Gombe emphasized new infrastructure projects, such as the proposed Sokoto-Badagry superhighway, interstate road network enhancements, agriculture value chain projects, and healthcare improvements.

He emphasized that these show a strong policy focus on improving the social and economic conditions in the North.
