Authorities have reported that Jatau Shebah Rilokwah, a 23-year-old student from Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has allegedly taken his own life in what appears to be a suicide.
Renowned security analyst Zagazola Makama shared in a post on his official X account on Tuesday that the incident took place at the university’s senior staff quarters on April 27, 2025.
Rilokwah, reportedly the son of Professor Shedrack Jatau, was found hanging from the ceiling by Emmanuel Gyawo, a security officer at the university.
The professor, who was reportedly out of town at the time, had instructed Gyawo to check on his son after several unsuccessful attempts to contact him.
Upon entering the apartment, Gyawo discovered Rilokwah unresponsive and quickly alerted others.
A police team, led by the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) from Angwan Lambu, was dispatched to the location.
“No suicide note was found, and preliminary reports indicate there were no signs of physical violence on the body,” the post read.
Rilokwah was quickly taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Keffi, where a doctor confirmed his death. His body has been placed in the hospital morgue.
According to police sources, investigations are still underway to uncover the details surrounding the incident.
