On Sunday, February 23, the newly elected chairmen of the local government councils will be sworn in by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Olalekan Badmus, his Special Assistant on Digital Media, verified this on Saturday evening on his X account.

The swearing-in ceremony would be held at the Government House in the state capital of Osogbo, Badmus said.

He wrote: “The newly elected local government council chairmen will be sworn in by His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, tomorrow, 23/02/2025, at 12:00 noon prompt at the Government House, Osogbo.”

The polls were held on Saturday, February 22nd, and are currently the subject of debate.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won every local government and councillorship seat in the state’s recently ended local government election, according to the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSSIEC.

Hashim Abioye, the chairman of OSSIEC, announced this on Saturday night through a Facebook Live broadcast.

According to Abioye, PDP candidates won the chairmanship elections in each of the state’s 30 local government council regions and all 332 wards’ councillorship seats.

Osun State’s All Progressives Congress, APC, has applauded the populace for abstaining from what it called an unlawful local government council election.
