The Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Linus Nto Mba, has praised Governor Alex Otti for reinstating the honor of traditional rulers and addressing the state’s infrastructure challenges.
Speaking to members of the Old Bende Progressive Union in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, on Saturday, Eze Nto Mba recalled the difficult economic conditions that traditional leaders endured under previous governments due to inadequate support from the state.
“Since the inception of Governor Alex Otti ‘s government, the traditional rulers’ dignity has been restored with the Abia traditional rulers receiving the highest stipend in the South East,” he stated.
He noted that the monthly allowances previously given to traditional rulers were insufficient compared to the roles they played in their communities. However, he emphasized that Governor Otti’s leadership has brought a significant improvement in their welfare.
Eze Nto Mba encouraged members of the Old Bende Progressive Union and other Abians living abroad to return home and invest, highlighting that the government has provided better roads, enhanced security, and favorable conditions across both urban and rural areas.
The traditional leader also commended the Governor’s decision not to rely on loans for executing projects, and called on the diaspora community to support Otti’s re-election bid in 2027.
