HRM Anthony Uvietobore Ogbogbo, the traditional ruler of the Ozoro Kingdom in Isoko North LGA of Delta State, has prohibited any festivals from being held in the area without his consent.
The prohibition was announced on Sunday during a visit from the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, and other senior police officials, in the wake of the recent ‘rape festival’ in the region.
ZINGTIE remembers that three days ago, social media was set ablaze by viral videos of men sexually assaulting women during what they termed a ‘raping festival.’
The traditional ruler issued a strong condemnation of the incident, emphasizing that no girl child should have to endure such an experience.
He expressed gratitude to the police commissioner for his quick response and professional management of the issue, which resulted in the arrest of at least 15 suspects.
The monarch praised the state government for its assistance and stressed that everyone involved must be apprehended and prosecuted.
He additionally ordered that “no festival or gathering should be held in the Kingdom without prior recourse with the Palace for proper guidance, to prevent a recurrence.”
