Parents of world’s first surviving nonuplets share update and new photos as they turn 4

The parents of the first surviving nonuplets in history are talking to their kids about the “unforgettable memories.”

Almost two months after the children’s fourth birthday, Halima Cissé and Abdelkader Arby just posted adorable pictures of the nonuplets—five girls and four boys—across the years on Instagram.

The babies were the first known nonuplets—that is, nine children born at the same time—and were welcomed by the Malian couple in Morocco on May 4, 2021.

Guinness World Records, which had given the family the record for the most children born at a single birth to survive four years prior, translated the parents’ caption to read, “Here are some rare images of our treasures just after they were born, in their tiny hatches and a precious photo of their mum Halima during her exceptional pregnancy.”

The pictures include the boys Mohammed VI, Oumar, Elhadji, and Bah, as well as the ladies Kadidia, Fatouma, Hawa, Adama, and Oumou, dressed in matching ensembles at different points in their early years.

In a recent picture, one of the boys is shown with his eight siblings and their parents, carrying the Guinness World Records plaque. The two-year-old sister of the nonuplets, Souda, is not shown in the photo.

“A miracle of life, incredible strength, immense love. We are filled with gratitude for how far we have come and for all the support we have received since the very beginning. Thank you to everyone who has been with us since day one,” the parents’ Instagram caption continued.

The woman was 30 weeks pregnant when the nonuplets were delivered prematurely by C-section in Casablanca, Morocco, in 2021. At birth, each of the nine infants weighed between 1.1 and 2.2 pounds.

When the nonuplets were four in 2025, their mother informed Guinness that they “decided to celebrate in a grandiose way, as a celebrity would!”
