Paris 2024 Olympic: Waldrum makes two demands from Super Falcons

Following their 1-0 victory over Cameroon on Monday in Abuja in the third round of the 2024 Olympic qualifiers, Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has urged his team to be effective and clinical around the opponents’ crucial area and convert their chances into goals.

According to Waldrum, this is essential if they want to beat their South African counterparts to the final round qualification ticket for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

After having a strong first half, Nigeria had multiple opportunities to kill the game against Camera.

However, Nigeria managed to hang on after Cameroon took the lead in the second half due to poor finishing from Jennifer Echegini, Rasheedat Ajibade, Toni Payne, and Esther Okoronkwo.

In his post-match interview, Waldrum stated the following to media following the game:

“In the match we had some chances that we missed and it was a match we really struggled to win.

“You can go back and look at the opportunities that we had. We could have easily finished the game at half time.

“So, we have to be more efficient and clinical around our opponents’ vital area and convert chances into goals.

“I would have also preferred the match to be played in the night because the weather was hot, but we can’t complain because the players are all Nigerians and are used to it.”
