Apostle Amos Isah, the founder and general overseer of Prophetic Voice of Fire Ministry International, Gwagwalada, has been accused by a 14-year-old secondary school student of raping her in a remote church office. The shocking accusation has shocked the community and prompted calls for accountability.
The victim is a dedicated member of the church’s Media Unit and goes to church with her mother. To hide her identity, she goes under the name of pseudonym Esther Moses Bunya. She claims that about July 2024, Apostle Amos started paying her extraordinary and uninvited attention, regularly checking in on her and calling her into his office under a variety of guises. Esther stated she trusted him as her spiritual father, despite the fact that it was difficult at times.
She was invited to Apostle Amos’ office on Saturday, May 24, 2025. She declined, saying that while her mother was gone, she had to take care of the family business. He then invited her to join him after school on Monday, May 26, 2025.
That Monday, Esther called him again to make sure, but he didn’t pick up. Later, he called her back and asked her to come right away because he had a few minutes to spare. She got approval from her gullible mother.
When she arrived, the pastor’s assistant alerted Pastor Amos, who called for her and escorted her out of the crowded church grounds to an unfinished building where he kept a private office. Esther claims that he shut the door, undressed, told her to follow suit, and then, when she resisted, pushed her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.
Esther said that during the assault, she started to bleed. She informed Apostle Amos that she had finished her period the week before when he inquired about her menstruation. He led her back to the main church area after the alleged rape, made her kneel for prayer, gave her ₦3,000, and then left her.
Esther was too traumatized to speak up immediately, so she kept the incident to herself until a friend’s mother convinced her to do so when she disclosed that she had barely escaped a similar experience. On May 29, 2025, Esther finally told her mother. The following day, her mother told her father.
When Esther’s father brought up the issue with the local Police Division on May 31, 2025, they quickly set up a medical examination for her.
Esther was called by someone at the Gwagwalada Police Area Command to participate in a counter-allegation while the investigation was ongoing. Both she and her father made an appearance and provided statements. Apostle Amos also visited the Area Command, where the investigating officer examined his and Esther’s WhatsApp conversations, supporting her story even further.
In spite of this, the pastor was freed the same day by outside intervention, which heightened the family’s concerns that his local influence was compromising the situation.
Determined to secure justice, Esther’s father escalated the case to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) on Monday, June 16, 2025. Acting on the fresh report, FCID operatives arrested Apostle Amos on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, and ordered all parties to return the next day for further statements.
Apostle Amos remains in custody; however, credible reports indicate persistent attempts by influential individuals to undermine the investigation and secure his release.
The family and child rights advocates are calling on the police authorities and the public to ensure that justice is neither delayed nor denied.
