A 42-year-old pastor named Samson Ajayi has been placed under remand in a correctional facility by a Magistrate Court in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, for allegedly raping his 17-year-old biological daughter.

After being arraigned in court on two charges of rape and defilement, Ajayi, a father of five, was placed under detention at Olokuta Correctional Centre.

After his wife informed the police in Igoba, Akure North Local Government Area of the state, that Ajayi had been having sexual relations with their daughter, the defendant was taken into custody last week.

The prosecutor, Supol Martins Olowofeso, told the court that Ajayi had sexually molested his daughter for more than four years, and that the alleged offense was perpetrated at his home in Igoba between March 2021 and August 2025.

The prosecutor claims that the defendant confessed to the alleged offense after asserting that he was subject to an unfathomable “generational curse.”

After much convincing, the victim told her mother about the abuse, who then reported it to the police, which resulted in Ajayi’s arrest while he was at a prayer mountain, Olowofeso added. The victim’s mother was not aware of the abuse until she found her matrimonial bed scattered.

Sections 3 (a, b, and c) and 25 of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Laws of Ondo State, 2021, are allegedly violated by the offenses.

The defendant’s counsel, Kehinde Osadugba, urged that a settlement should be worked out, noting that the victim’s mother had forgiven him due to his standing in the family as the breadwinner.

Magistrate Taiwo Lebi, however, turned down the request and placed the defendant under detention in the Olokuta Correctional Facility until the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) could provide guidance. The matter was then postponed for consideration by the magistrate until November 20, 2025.
