The Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre (DCC), Pastor Sam Adeyemi, expressed concern over the apparent lack of empathy and compassion in some Nigerian leaders.
He pointed out that these leaders seem disconnected from the harsh realities faced by the impoverished individuals spread across the country.
Pastor Adeyemi shared these thoughts during his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Thursday.
He noted that many leaders are struggling to guide the nation effectively, as their focus is more on retaining political power than on improving the lives of citizens.
The pastor also linked the fear of losing power to the recent trend of leaders switching from opposition parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Some of our leaders, it is even obvious from the way they speak, that they have lost touch with the reality of the poor, they have no empathy, no compassion.
“So, we want to create an environment that will make it possible for those in leadership to lead us in the right directions to make the right decisions.
“Some of them are being threatened that they would lose their next election, that is what they are defecting. So their own survival is being threatened,” he said.
