The national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been taken over by Taminu Turaki, the party’s national chairman.
He made this statement to the media following his and the governors of Oyo and Bauchi, Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed, forcing their way into the PDP National Executive Committee meeting hall on Tuesday.
ZINGTIE has reported that attempts to organize rival meetings caused tension at the PDP headquarters in Abuja.
The group supported by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike scheduled meetings for Tuesday after the National Working Committee (NWC) was elected in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, on Saturday.
The pro-Wike faction’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, had traveled to Wadata Plaza with a few faction members.
Members of the Taminu Turaki faction came at the party offices shortly after, but they were prevented from going inside.
