Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has predicted a sharp decline in the influence of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) within the state, asserting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is poised to reclaim the three National Assembly seats currently held by the opposition.
He made this declaration during a “Government’s Citizen Engagement” event locally known as Gwamnati Da Jama’a held in Dutse Local Government Area. Namadi attributed the APC’s growing popularity to development projects spearheaded by both the state and federal administrations, which he said have positively impacted the lives of Jigawa residents.
The governor emphasized that his government’s approach, focused on policies that prioritize citizens’ needs, has strengthened public confidence in the APC, particularly in Jigawa Central, where voters had supported PDP candidates in the last general elections.
“The people of Jigawa Central Senatorial Zone, Buji/Birnin Kudu Federal Constituency, and Dutse/Kiyawa Constituency have expressed their disappointment in the PDP lawmakers representing them, describing their tenure as a total failure,” the governor said.
“These constituencies have vowed to vote them out and end PDP’s presence in the zone and the state by 2027.”
Namadi linked the APC’s rising support to its track record in office, stating that the people of the state are evaluating leadership based on tangible outcomes.
“Our performance is our yardstick, and the people of Jigawa are measuring us and our great party by the results we deliver. We are pleased to be gaining more ground and confidence day by day through our sincere commitment to the wellbeing of our citizens,” Namadi added.
He also extended appreciation to residents of Dutse for their continued backing and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering inclusive governance and sustainable development.
Namadi went on to share updates on major infrastructure efforts, relaying commitments from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the state. These include the anticipated completion of the Greater Dutse water supply scheme, steady progress on the Maradi-Dutse railway project, and the revival of work on the Kano-Maiduguri highway.
