Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has declared that he is monitoring developments in Oyo State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike clarified that his focus on the situation arises from his worry about the ongoing existence and robustness of the party that once held federal governance.

This was disclosed on Monday in Abuja during his address to participants at the PDP’s 105th National Executive Committee meeting.

He claims that his commitment to the party’s success motivates him to keep an eye on developments in the Oyo State chapter.

“Let me declare my interest clearly: I am interested in the survival and success of this party. I am also interested in all the happenings in Oyo State PDP. That is all I am interested in,” he said.

Wike dismissed the accusations of intimidation against PDP members, asserting that such claims were no longer credible in light of recent judicial outcomes.

“Who will intimidate us to the end? Some of us, by the grace of God, do not see what anyone can threaten us with.

“The legal battle has collapsed. They have no option but to recognise the Caretaker Committee,” Wike said.

His remark comes in the wake of the fallout with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. The previous allies had a falling-out and became members of different factions.

In November of the previous year, a faction led by Makinde and Governor Bala Mohammed held a national convention, which the Federal High Court in Oyo State subsequently annulled.
