The widow of the late former president Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari, was visited in London by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The vice president met with the late president’s children after leading a group from the Nigerian government to return Buhari’s remains.

Social media users are sharing pictures of Shettima’s visit to the former first family, which depict the vice president, Buhari’s wife, and their kids in a state of sadness.

Buhari passed away on Sunday in London, UK, while undergoing treatment for an unidentified illness, according to ZINGTIE.

Buhari was the military’s head of state before becoming the democratically elected president of Nigeria.

Buhari traveled outside of Nigeria for medical reasons for at least 225 days while he was president.

His longest was a 104-day stay in London in May 2017.

Shettima is anticipated to return to Nigeria on Tuesday with the former president’s remains, along with other members of the Federal Government delegation in London.

Buhari’s funeral is also planned for Tuesday in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.
