Police Commissioner honors fallen officers with cheque Presentation

The Anambra State Police Command has taken a significant step in supporting the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. On Friday, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, presented N8 million cheques to 13 family members of fallen officers.

This gesture is part of an initiative by the Inspector-General of Police to provide succour to the families of police officers who died in active service. According to the Command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the beneficiaries include the family of an Inspector who was mistakenly shot by a “friendly force” at a Police Observation Point along Onitsha Owerri Expressway

During the presentation, CP Ikioye Orutugu expressed his gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for his efforts in ensuring the welfare of police personnel. “The CP thanked the Inspector-General of Police for his relentless efforts towards ensuring a good welfare package for personnel of the Force,” Ikenga said.

The CP also urged the beneficiaries to use the money wisely, saying, “The CP urged the beneficiaries to use the money wisely by investing in a profitable venture that will, in turn, alleviate the needs of the dependents left behind.”

This act of kindness demonstrates the police command’s commitment to supporting the families of its fallen heroes. By providing financial assistance, the command aims to alleviate some of the burdens faced by these families and inspire officers to continue serving with dedication and commitment
