According to the Nigeria Police Force, a Catholic priest who has not yet been identified shot and killed a young boy after the boy started knockouts within the church premises.

In an interview with ZINGTIE on Thursday, Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, confirmed the information.

When the ZINGTIE asked, Okoye, however, did not disclose the deceased’s name or the priest’s parish.

He claims that the police have started looking into the event.

“The police have commenced an investigation into the matter. This is all I can say for the moment,” he told ZINGTIE.

Although the incident’s specifics are still unclear, earlier on Wednesday, a Facebook post uploaded by the account “For The Love Of Anambra” stated that after the deceased set off the knockouts, “the priest, whose identity remains undisclosed, picked up a firearm and fatally shot him”.

As of right now, the incident has sparked uproar on social media.
