Using the Nigeria Police Force’s Electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) network, the Kano State Police Command has retrieved two reported stolen automobiles.
S.P. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Force Public Relations Officer, signed a statement on Friday that included this information.
The events happened earlier in January on several dates, the statement said.
“On January 1, a resident of Abuja reported that two unidentified individuals approached his car stand in Zuba, Abuja, expressing interest in a Toyota Corolla 2014 model. During a test drive, the suspects brandished a pistol, threatened the victim, and fled with the vehicle, including its original documents and keys.”
Similar to this, on January 4, the owner of a Mercedes Benz C300 parked in front of the Luxirian Event Center in Nassarawa GRA, Kano, who lived on Hadejia Road, Kano, had it stolen.
To recover the stolen cars, CP Salman Dogo Garba, the State Commissioner of Police, sent investigators from the Anti-Car Theft Unit.
The Kano State Police Command has recovered two motor vehicles reported stolen, using the Nigeria Police Force’s Electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) platform.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, S.P Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Friday.
According to the statement, the incidents occurred on separate occasions earlier in January.
“On January 1, a resident of Abuja reported that two unidentified individuals approached his car stand in Zuba, Abuja, expressing interest in a Toyota Corolla 2014 model. During a test drive, the suspects brandished a pistol, threatened the victim, and fled with the vehicle, including its original documents and keys.”
Similarly, on January 4, a Mercedes Benz C300 parked in front of Luxirian Event Center in Nassarawa GRA, Kano, was stolen from its owner, a resident of Hadejia Road, Kano.
In response, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, deployed detectives from the Anti-Car Theft Unit to recover the stolen vehicles.
“Acting on information obtained from the e-CMR platform, the team located the stolen Toyota Corolla behind the old Airport in Bauchi State and the Mercedes Benz in Shagari Quarters, Kano. The recovery efforts spanned January 10 to January 15,” the statement added.
CP Salman Dogo Garba, who spoke about the operation, praised the detectives’ effectiveness.
In order to improve security and speed up recovery in the event of theft, he urged the public to register their cars on the e-CMR platform.
“The e-CMR platform is a vital tool for preventing and addressing vehicle theft. I urge everyone to take advantage of this system by registering their vehicles through the website *https://cmris.npf.gov.ng
“We call on the public to report criminal activities or suspicious individuals to the nearest police station or via our hotlines: 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09029292926,” the statement added.
