Polish PM heads to Turkey to discuss Ukraine, security

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk traveled to Turkey on Wednesday to discuss recent developments regarding Ukraine and Warsaw, as well as how Ankara could contribute to securing lasting peace in the region.

Tusk mentioned that the meeting would focus on the roles of both Poland and Turkey.

“We will talk about the roles of Poland, the role of Turkey, when it comes to stabilisation in the region, when it comes to assessing the first round of talks that ended in Saudi Arabia between Ukraine and the United States,” he said.

He also noted that they would address the potential involvement of both Turkey and Poland in ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region, particularly along the Russian-Ukrainian border.

It was reported that on Tuesday, the United States agreed to resume military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, after Kyiv expressed its readiness to support Washington’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia, according to a joint statement from the countries.

“From our point of view, it is very important that NATO and European countries simultaneously effectively guarantee stability after achieving a ceasefire and peace on the Russian-Ukrainian border. And Turkey’s role here may be key,” Tusk added.
