According to the Port Harcourt refinery’s management, following a successful repair, the plant began full-scale operations.
This was revealed to reporters by Ibrahim Onoja, the company’s managing director, following a Sunday night facility tour of the refinery.
He said that the refinery had undergone significant improvements and that the majority of the equipment, including the cables and pump installation, had been overhauled.
He emphasised that the refinery has started trucking out petroleum goods, such as diesel, kerosene, and premium motor spirit.
“The refining plant has undergone extensive upgrades to enhance efficiency and reliability, which has also impacted production capacity.
“We replaced most of the equipment, including pump installation and cables.
“The plant is running, and we are trucking out our products,” he said.
This occurs just six days after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited declared that the Port Harcourt Refinery had started processing crude oil.
But the Port Harcourt refinery’s opening has raised questions about the plant’s feasibility.
The refinery was said to have trucked out old stocks.
However, NNPCL had dismissed the claims.
