Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna Central, has advised Nigerian state governors against entering into agreements with international businesses.

In order to prevent the seizure of assets and jets held by Nigerians, Sani advised state governors to exercise vigilance when entering into agreements with foreign companies.

Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “All the State Governors signing contracts with foreign firms should be careful so that they will not start seizing the diaspora properties after they confiscate all our remaining planes.”

His admonition coincides with a contract issue that Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited, a Chinese corporation, and Nigeria are having.

Fucheng was recently given permission to confiscate three government-owned aircraft: a Boeing 737-7N6/BBJ, an Airbus A330-243, and a Dassault Falcon 7X.

This came after the Ogun State Government terminated the business’s contract to administer an export processing zone in 2016.

The corporation, offended by the Ogun State Government’s move, had asked the French court to get involved in their contractual disagreement.

The court’s decision mandated the confiscation of the three Nigeria government-owned jets.

However, there were rumors that President Bola Tinubu was allowed to use one of the jets.
