British families have been alerted by security experts about concerns about a Russian plot to damage energy pipelines.
Residents are encouraged to pack a 72-hour “survival kit.”
In order to “keep the lights on,” the UK has become more and more dependent on foreign gas and energy suppliers.
Nearly 40% of the gas used in the UK is imported from Norway, primarily via the 700-mile Langeled pipeline.
Since one of the Russians’ spy ships, the Yantar, was found mapping the UK’s vital underwater infrastructure in the North Sea in recent months, there have been concerns that the Russians are preparing a sabotage operation.
Security experts have recommended that British households should adopt the EU’s recommendation to carry a three-day survival kit, as the UK has apparently been on the verge of blackouts throughout the last winter.
Water, non-perishable food, a torch, identification papers, medications, a battery-operated radio, and a Swiss Army knife should all be included.
